Jose Mourinho wants Tottenham Hotspur to sign a defender and a striker in the January transfer window, per The Daily Telegraph.
What’s the word?
The winter window is now open and the Portuguese is said to be keen on strengthening two key areas of his squad.
The Telegraph reports that he would like to sign defensive cover as well as support to striker Harry Kane, who picked up an injury in the 1-0 defeat to Southampton at the weekend.
Kane, of course, is the only senior out-and-out striker in the squad, with youngster Troy Parrott his main back-up.
Son Heung-Min, who has been suspended, could also play in the role after serving his ban.

Necessary moves
Spurs’ squad is looking rather thin.
With Kane out – he felt his hamstring as he was substituted at St Mary’s – there are a lack of options in attack, while Jan Vertonghen, normally a centre-back, has been forced to play at left-back by Mourinho.
The same Telegraph report claims that he is wanted by both Napoli and Ajax.
Bringing two players into the club who can help fill the holes would be sensible and ensure that there is genuine competition for places in north London.
It remains to be seen, of course, if chairman Daniel Levy will be willing to fund two such moves in the winter window.
Mourinho, though, needs them to be done.
Meanwhile, Spurs fans want one man to leave the club in the January transfer window.
