Celtic have been handed a big injury boost ahead of their upcoming Scottish Premiership clash.
What’s the latest?
In recent comments cited by The Celtic Way, Ange Postecoglou revealed that he has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the St. Mirren fixture this evening, while the 56-year-old also suggested that he will make a late decision on whether he will include Giorgos Giakoumakis – who missed the Hibernian fixture due to illness – in his matchday squad.
Speaking about the current state of his squad, Postecoglou said: “In the squad in general everyone from the weekend is fine so no changes there.
“Giako is still 50/50. He’s better but I’ll probably make a decision on [Wednesday] morning on him. If I had to make a call I’d say he probably won’t start but might be involved. I’ll see tomorrow how he’s feeling but he’s better, he’s almost back.”
Postecoglou will be buzzing
While the involvement of Giakoumakis appears to still be up in the air at present, the fact that Postecoglou has no fresh injury concerns ahead of tonight’s fixture is sure to have left the Hoops boss buzzing.
Indeed, with the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, David Turnbull, Mikey Johnston and Albian Ajeti all remaining sidelined due to hamstring injuries, the 56-year-old manager will require as many of his current crop of players to remain as injury-free as possible over the coming weeks, in order for the Bhoys to give themselves the best possible chance of going on to reclaim their Premiership crown this season.
And, with Christopher Jullien and Karamoko Dembele having recently returned from knocks of their own, the Celtic squad is looking in pretty good shape ahead of the St. Mirren clash – with Postecoglou undoubtedly hoping that his side can bring their recent wobble in form to an end with a dominant performance and result against the Saints.
