Erik Lamela’s time in England has been thwart with difficulty. The Argentine initially struggled to convince supporters of his abilities after being signed as a direct replacement for Gareth Bale and once he’d finally won over the doubters, he suffered a long-term injury that has kept him out of action for the best part of the last 13 months.
The South American is no doubt a talented player though and his recent return to action from the substitutes bench has been greeted warmly by the Spurs faithful. As we enter a phase of the Premier League season in which the fixtures begin to come thick and fast, the timing feels right to rotate the squad and issue Lamela his first start of the campaign.
